So recently, I got my knee twisted with my ligament severly torn.Even though,2 week mc is a good deal for nsf,I had to forego 2 marathons I had signed up and paid for.One is the 16km north east run and 25 km passion run.plus my class 3 tp and revision lessons are next week.no refund means my stupid knee has cost me $300++. HEART pain !!!!

All i can do now is to lay down and watch tv.haha

I last time I volunteered for such sacrificial occasion was in sec 2.I was in-charge of suppressing the lamb.I could still recall how warm the blood was.
Since then i haven't been participating till this year.

After some prayers, the sheep is slaughtered, unable to get close enough to show the actual cutting of the throat, but the commandment is that one should do it as fast as possible to minimise pain for the animal and the cut made including the windpipe and the veins and arteries leading to the brain. This cuts out the blood supply immediately and the blood drains out causing the brain to shutdown immediately hence the animal do not feel the pain of dying. Almost like pulling out the plug on your pc as opposed to shutting down windows and going through the closing proces

Then the sheep is skinned, those who do this need to be trained kay.

Finally the animal is cut into peices of meat that is small enough for cooking and to be distributed.. hmm fresh lamb...

some prefer to look at photos then to witness the process personally as they can't stomach it.

We were informed fire season has started in Ang Mo Kio and I swear I never noe fire has season especially in a city like Singapore.We have been already hit by a high-profile case with 3 fatalities.Hmm,lets see what awaits us.

For every road traffic accident I attend ,I would pray hard the casualty trapped is some hot,pretty girl.u know wat i mean.haha
But none so far.most of them were china workers.
But don't worry,when it comes down to operations, we put in full effort and dedication regardless of race or sex of the casualty.

Anyway,it took me some time to comprehend scdf's protocol
when you

1) Don't respond fast enough to the incident area(Control don't entertain,traffic jams as excuses)

2) Fall prey to the eyes of the public and get ur face highlighted in stomp

3) Send your men alone into the fire ground

4)Your rescue equipments does not function on incident site

you get charged.Simple as that.

the section commander always gets fuc*** and has to claim full responsibility.
Sometimes,I wished I was a firefighter but again i must stress sec com pay is rewarding.

Because of the fact that every incident is unique in its own way,planning fixed solutions and decision-making is useless.You have to make spontaneous decisions on the ground itself and i cN TELL U IT IS NOT EASY TO MAKE decisions especially when someone is screaming his lungs out in pain.

You might have come across this article on the newpaper.
Guess what?we were the first DO crew to arrive at scene.

It was my 2nd large fire since i joined duty.first one was a wide car fire down CTE.
But this incident was very different.

The call came around 9pm when the liverpool vs Singapore match just ended.Control stated it was a big fire with smoke showing.So we had wore BA face mask charged with cylinder.
Upon reaching the location ,not to mention the residents who vacated their flats and contributed to the chaos, we had to break open the door using force able entry at the eight storey.The unit was smoke-logged with degree of visibility coming from the fire source itself.In addition to it,a slight whistling sound was coming from the lbg gas cylinder.And to our shock,there was a injured casualty sprawled on the ground.
No matter how heroic one is, no one would want to enter into a unit where the lpg gas is waiting to explode. yet we had to move on because a life was at stake,trusting the fire jacket will protect us.
When we hoisted him his skin was pulling off.I nearly puked when I felt how hard and disfigured the fellow was.And trust me,you wont want to know how it feels like to carry a dying life in your hands.
Unfortunate enough,we were unable to revive him.I couldnt even - identify his race cause he was so badly burnt.
once the fire was put out,soon the 'big' officers and media came rushing in with flashing lights.We had to leave cause our mission was over.the firefighters wished we could get some limelight but we didnt:(

Definitely a lifetime experience which i won't forget because cases like this are rare.Must be a suicide but let the investigators to their CSI.Rest In Peace my friend.
My anjak always says "it takes more than courage to sacrifice oneselves to save others".Finally,i got to understand it.
hopefully my trauma will die off soon.

First turnout was to a road traffic accident along mandai road.Sad to say but the victim wasn't trapped.lol
Hence the rescue mission was pretty easy since extrication wasn't necessary.

And problematic Seletar led to two fire calls middle of the night.It was amusing when one of the firefighters who was bathing ran out with his underwear and down the sliding pole.If you were wondering why,our protocol is to be inside the fire engine by 1 min and reach the incident site by 8 min.
One was office fire and other was a fire at a landfill.Because of the lack of hydrants nearby,we had to go all the way to jalan kayu for water supply.sigh...

Nonetheless,the fear of missing the fire call seems to be a big problem when I am asleep at night.You won't want to know what's the punishment like.

We also wacked in a unexpected basement fire drill in the peak hours of early morning at the ang mo kio hub basement(amk interchange) hindering the paths of the hectic singaporeans rushing to work.

We plan to do more of it if the residents of AMK were to give us prank calls especially during night time.There are interruting my sleep ok.haha...jking jking

Station attachment at Yishun fire station was thrilling.maybe because of the excitement of my first fire call.Surprisingly. the fire station has been awarded as the best fire station station few years ago.But currently it is Bukit Batok.

while on standby for fire calls anxiously,I was pulled in by the ambulance crew to attend ambulance calls due to lack of manpower.
one such case was this teenage girl who took straps of pills(around 20).must be relationship problems.haha

It was weird when the public monitors every movement we make.especially when they see a guy like me standing by thinking of ways to aid the medics.lol.i am an ers not a medic la ah.
but i did helped to carry her.

nothing dramatic yet though.

Only two slots allocated for 32nd ers to Yishun fire station.but they are more than 10 competitors who have chosen it as their first choice.hopefully,they dont put me as fire instructor cause i don wish to train trainees like aznor.haha
actually, i dont wish to travel jalan bahar day in,day out and rather prefer attending real-life cases.

I had a bigger shock when I come across joon kiat in cda.hope he had a taste of firefighting.

I have accepted smu's offer to enroll into the School of Information Systems(bachelor of science).The professors said they course deals with both IT and business during the reception.i am not convinced though.
But i wont forget the 5 stage interview i went through.I went wtf when the dean posed a screwed Q during the last stage.It goes like this "can u estimate the number of seminar rooms in nus,ntu and smu, your 3 minutes starts now".

I definitely would not be able to come up a answer in 3 mins even if the blueprints and floor plans of all 3 uni were to be provided. lol

but i believe i gave a good estimation supported by a good rationale.

During the solo night,where one has to stay alone in the middle of jungle equipped with just a 4 litres of water ,my tent collapsed thanks to the torrential rain and partly because of my laziness to secure it.But you dontt expect one to fix it middle of the night in pitch blackness especially without a torch.so i spent the night chanting all sort of things in hunger.

yet 32nd ers survived with only one causality,who fell 20m down when climbing a steep slope.
Even the rescue team had problems finding the location.lol
he is alright though.

10km race on the last day took us by surprise.

And not forgetting the new crowned champions of England.

We trained for almost 3 months for the inter-unit relay run .We came in 3rd place comfortably and were awaiting for the prize money($500 i think).But suddenly, we were told we were disqualified.wtf.
Cda supporters watched dumbfounded as the host 3rd division robbed it.

Anyway the past few weeks were very dramatic,at least for me/

during the Hazmat week, i was stuck with a cold oxygen cylinder inside the HAzmat suit(commonly known as teletubbies suit) with a leaking face mask.

the medical week ended in tragedy when the medic officer told me the force i applied was way too much that it was enough to break the causality's rib cage during CPR test.

During height rescue, the cage which holds the rescuers got jammed in mid-air,20 floors above ground level when my section was operating it.we had to wait some time till they repaired the hydraulic system.

Nonetheless , climbing up and down the 10-storey furnace with ur oxygen cylinder on right after running around the cda with the big john(90kg dummy) over ur backpack within the time limit tested the ultimate endurance level and mental strength within one.

ok enough of civil defence.

I still could not get over the fact that manu lost to Liverpool to such a large humiliating margin at home.

they say technology has revolutionized over the years, but yet they have not invented ladders of lighter material.the fu**kin ladder in the pumper is close to about 60kg and is expected to be at the incident site within 20 secs.Even though the fire engines you encounter daily on the roads look high-tech,in reality it isnt.we are expected to bring it down manually and then run carrying it to the debris like dogs.

We have not even started fighting fire yet,but the injuries seem increasing.
-one got injured while carrying the ladder
-one suddenly started to nose bleed out of nowhere.
-3 got out off course.one was due to heat exhaustion.He fainted twice.the other 2 are not from my rota so i dunno wat happened to them.

it's not actually a rank i suppose.it is a sign to recognize a junior Specialist Cadet undergoing training.

my bunk mate-when i am down he helps me.Even he is down,i rarely give him support.haha

it took me some time to adjust with the fire suit. because the fire suit got to be wore on with your long 4 ,you would start perspiring by just wearing it.so to run 5km with the fire suit along with the fire boots will make even the strongest exhausted.

my small body frame will be my main drawback.But i got to overcome it to go the extra mile. Being in the front line,i would have to hold high responsibilities cause i would need to lead a group of firefighters into the debris or fire once the instruction from the officer comes in.so any wrong instructions might eventually end up in fatality.

ok i have guard duty to serve from tomorrow morning to monday morning.so i got to wake up around 5.30 tomorrow to reach cda on time.ah shit...

I only came across saffir who used to sit behind me and disturb me in maths lectures in BRTC.He cuts into my platoon just to say hi and gives his traditional handshake to me.one of the friendliest guy i have ever met.

Currently i am inside 32nd ERS.ERS is involved as a supporting contingent in the pass out parade for CD's senior officers.I didnt noe taufik was a senior officer.We had a chat and he told me that he himself and his platoon mates are all from from army.i still don understand why cd recruits cant be officers?

so let me give you an overview of scdf .
-At first all the cd nsmen will report to brtc(basic rescue training centre) for the supposedly 7 week course
-however in the first week officers will hold interviews and conduct physical tests to shortlist firefighter and ers respectively
-the shortlisted ones will then pack up their bags and move over to cda(civil defence academy)
-firefighter's course lasts about 3 months whereas ers is 6 months

the commander told all this
-at least 20 will drop out due to the intensity of the training out of the 70 enlisted which includes regulars..
-high probability of catching chest and lung infection.my brtc instructors shared with me that they had to drop out half way due to infections.
-physically and mentally demanding

at least for the incentives
- 1 week training trip to Brunei (motivation is to check out the girls over there)
-1.1k++ starting salary once completion of course
-one day work ,two days off

Few weeks back, i keyed 'National service in Singapore' into Wikipedia to find more about the career growth and curriculum in SCDF.i did not understand any shit when i first read it.Too much of technical terms and phrases.it said something about ERS and how they would get to visit Brunei and all.
But after 1 week in BRTC ,i do understand and i believe i am nearing in getting into ERS(Emergency response Specialist).So many interviews and questions to get pass it.On the other hand,the firefighter interview expects one to shoulder your friend and two fire hoses(each weighing 15 kg,i think) run down the corridor up and down to get through it. if your friend is heavy, thats it.haha
Now i don regret cause i think being in the front line and daring your life to save lives is great.Now it is matter of whom i gonne save first.But definitely, i will save my girlfriend first if she is trapped.haha

there wasn't any two weeks confinement in scdf.It actually depends on ur batch and instructor.If he is screwed ur platoon might be confined to serve guard duty on weekends.Otherwise,you will get to book out by 6 pm every Friday and book in by 7.30 pm the following Sunday.

The server farm is so massive, it will require the construction of three separate nuclear power plants in southern India to provide electricity to power and cool it, sources say.

Google management could not be reached for comment about the project or its anticipated cost. But sources say the estimated cost are in the $1.8 trillion range, equal to more than twice the entire current GDP of India.

Google has developed other server farms in various locations, “but nothing even close to this scale,” Larfey said. Construction of the googlebyte farm is slated to begin the first of April.

The silver medals which came from the Singapore table -tennis team,does not even consist of a single Singaporean soul.Even the coach himself was an another chinese import.
Having said that..how can we claim them as ours?

my ass nearly caught fire after 8 hours of computing yesterday.the schools calls this one week break as a study break.yet my computing tutor calls us back for class.
A'level practical falls on 11,12 and 13 .That means it clashes with the prelims .Why cant they shift the papers to a later date ? after all we are taking our a'levels .

It s pretty certain that c.ronaldo will be leaving Man U.Undoubtedly,he was United's star last season.He scored not just 1,2 but a total of 42 goals last season.Without him.Man u would have never won both champion's league and premiership.United's future will be bleak without him.

Writing ur name on 100 over sheets is not something fun.Trust me.Computing Part B (8hrs) just ended today.My code was over 100 pages long and i had to write my index and name on every single sheet of paper.That took me nearly half an hour.But other student's code almost hit 200 pages.
well its about quality not quantity..haha

side track..
Team flower witnessed its first victory today with a scoreline of 2-1.
Goals came from qi wei(sunflower) and aznor(buttercup).

Whenever i play centre back,i just think i am the shortest centre back on earth.Well maybe it is true.lol

I thought my medal tally in yjc was over long time ago.
But,surprisingly a trophy has been awaiting for me.haha

quite budget actually..lol

It's kind of unroutine .I wouldnt be surprised if i have gotten awards for pulls up cause i have been awarded for that before.But this one,best performance in no.of sit-ups is totally absurd.Yet,i still have to go a long way to get my six-pack.lol

btw,i came to know i tied with my soccer-mate ,desmond,if only i had pushed my self for one more pathetic sit-up,he would have gone back empty-handed.It works vice-versa.

I actually contemplated for the fittest boy award ever since i knew such a award existed in yjc.Its kinda of ambitious but not impossible.
But i noe,i would not get it when my standing broad jump score denied me of a full score in Napha.
sad rite.haha
the heavy,intensive regular soccer trainings denied me from training up my thighs.i could still remember the self -training i underwent to skyrocket my broad jump score from 196 to 251 cm in sec 3.
This is how it works
-Two weeks before Napha,get your ass down to the void deck every single night.
-Get prepared to take long strides and start jumping the steps 4 by 4 till you reach the rooftop.
-Upon reaching ,take the lift back down and push ur self for one more set.
SO if you were to follow it religiously,i can guarantee you of getting max points in Napfa for broad jump.
Of course,i am confident cause i have tried,tested and succeeded.IF you couldnt ,inform me and i will scrap this post and get myself a botak.haha

But end of day,who cares if you are fit ,strong,short,tall,fat or skinny.not as if it would earn you a place in the local U .Ultimately,its still about performing academically.

A mid- aged man walked in and sat right across me.He indulged himself by throwing the leftovers on the plate into his mouth and moved across to another table to carry on his feast.He looked up at me and stared.I completed my fries and drinks to make sure that crazyy man doesnt get any of my crumbs.Meanwhile,the chuang cheng girls beside the table of mine,smiled and gave a WTF expression at me.i repliied back with a similar WTF expression.Upon seeing,there were no more leftovers around ,he rose and left.

I didnt know poverty existed in singapore to such extent till today.

caught Batman ,the dark knight last Saturday.Complex,yet a beautiful storyline.If there is anyone claiming it as a bad movie,he deserves a tight slap.lol
its worth watching!!!
what that was surprising was that even in Sat,the seats were not packed.We went to grab tickets, like 5 mins before the show and still managed to get seats in the kth row.

Caught Hellboy 2 yesterday.A deluxe movie with simplistic storyline .Billions of dollars should have been invested for such exceptional and awesome graphics.If the movie were to run,it is due to its strong visuals and special effects.but its still worth the bucks
Its was quite surprising when rotten tomatoes rated it 88%.i expected a much lower rating for this movie.
wondering wats rottentomatoes is?its a website which accesses the movies released and gives a rating and critiques for it.

there is less than 3 months to As if i am not wrong.
and here are my dismal marks for block test.S-gp,U-maths,D-physics,C-computing,?-econs
very,very disappointing indeed.
At times i wanna slag, a kind of guilty complex has been hunting me down recently.
i wonder what are this signs for?

and i heard from one of the maths tutors that the probability for scoring A or B in A,levels is 95% if you could score 35 marks and above for the coming maths prelims.

came across raymond while studying today.in case you are wondering who he is...he was last year's yjc top student scoring 6 As.haha
so we chatted like for 1 hour plus.He shared with me how he overcame all odds to get his 6 As.
let me explain some of his odds;
-skipped geo lectures for a continuous period of 4 months.
-Then how his tutors demoralized him that he will retain for being a slacker
-started attending tutorials only after the tutors were nice to him
-and so on and so forth

of course,he is not a just a slacker.he's a big time slacker.He even hept his lectures and tutorial fearing he might need to come back to retake his As. haha.But,i couldnt stop laughin when he told me the last time he passed gp was at o'levels, which was c6 before getting a A for GP.
But who cares, he got into one of the hottest courses (chem engineering) in the end.

But dun be influenced by him.He himself admitted he has been freaking lucky.he was just one out of the millions to have been hit by such super luck.
Ultimately,its still hardwork that prevails in the end.
so work hard and harder...

anyway, i had a random thought yesterday.what to do after a'levels?
Either to take up guitar classes or a driving licence.THen suddenly i thought of something that i always wanted to learn from young..breakdancing...haha

to be like this younster one day..haha (brit's top talent champion)

Thomas Beatie, a transgendered man, has given birth to a girl, TMZ.com reports.

Beatie, 34, caused quite a stir when he announced several months ago in The Advocate that he chose to be artificially inseminated after his wife was found to have fertility issues.

When he underwent gender reassignment and legally changed his identity from male to female, he kept his female sex organs.
